Disneyland’s Very Gay Columbus Day Weekend

It’s beginning to look like what was once called “off season” at the Disneyland Resort is becoming a thing of the past. Disneyland, Disney’s California Adventure, and Gay Days Anaheim, which fell on Columbus Day weekend this year, all posted huge traffic increases. At one point, Disneyland came very near to closing its gates, something that usually doesn’t happen until late November and December.

There were the usual reports of a half dozen or so families that wanted their admission fees refunded after discovering they’d chosen Gay Days to visit the resort. “My son is already asking questions [about all the people in red shirts],” blurted an irate father to a Disneyland guest relation’s representative. There were, however,no reports of any of the dozens of gay parents visiting the resort with their families complaining to park officials about questions from their children regarding all the people not wearing red.
