News Brief: Space Still Available on Disney Magic

For the first time since its maiden voyage in 1998, the flagship of the Disney Cruise Line, the Disney Magic, will sail into the Port of Los Angeles to begin a summer of cruises to the Mexican Riviera. Contrary to published reports, the series of 2005 summer cruises are not completely sold out; accommodations are still available.

DISNEYLAND, CA—Jason Lasecki, Media Relations Manager for the Disney Cruise Line, is one of hundreds of cast members flown into the Disneyland Resort by the Walt Disney Company to participate in the resort's recent media blitz for the start of the worldwide celebration of Disneyland's 50th Anniversary the Happiest Homecoming on Earth.

Upon his arrival in Southern California, Lasecki, who is based in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, was amazed to discover how highly West Coast Disney Cruise Line fans are anticipating the arrival of the Disney Magic at the Port of Los Angeles.

He was even more amazed to discover that most people think that the Magic's seven-night sailings, which will take place every Saturday from May 28 to August 20, 2005, are already completely booked.

"That is incorrect," Lasecki said. "The season is not completely sold out. We do still have some limited availability for the West Coast cruises."

Lasecki went on to advise people interested in booking a Mexican Riviera cruise on the Disney Magic to check with their travel agent "or DisneyCruise.com, the official Disney Cruise Line website."

"The dates that have availability," Lasecki continued, "are the cruises in early June, and we also have a six-night cruise in early July that has some availability in it as well."

As part of the Happiest Homecoming on Earth, the 2,700 passenger Disney Magic is scheduled to sail 12 consecutive cruise vacations each Saturday from the Port of Los Angeles to Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cabo San Lucas.

There will be a May 28 afternoon waterfront celebration as part of the Magic's inaugural voyage out San Pedro.

"Disneyland's 50th Anniversary will mark the first time that all theme parks have joined together in a truly global celebration," said Disneyland Resort and former Disney Cruise Line President Matt Ouimet. "We're thrilled to have Disney Cruise Line be a part of the magic that began here 50 years ago."

During its West Coast voyages, the Disney Magic will also premiere a brand new theatrical show. Twice Charmed: An Original Twist on the Cinderella Story will immerse audiences in a new rendition of the fairytale classic and features a rich musical score with six original compositions and two classic Disney songs.

The Disney Magic will return to its homeport in Florida September 3, 2005. Sister-ship the Disney Wonder will continue, from its Florida homeport, to offer land/sea packages of the Bahamas and Walt Disney World Resort throughout the summer of 2005.
