Get Your Grownup Geek Fix for Just $5Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We at o-meon.com have to say that first. The last four months have seen impressive and steady growth in our volume of traffic. We continue to exceed our projected traffic levels. Back in March, we actually met our goal for July of this year. Judging by your responses in the past few months , we probably should do more stories about legendary Disney animator, writer, director, producer, and all round great-guy Ward Kimball, in addition to stories that feature UFOs and webmasters being tossed out of Disneyland. We'll work on that. After all, it wouldn't have been possible without you. Looking AheadIn the coming weeks and months, we're going to be busy bringing you lots more of the kind of in-depth stories you've come to expect from o-meon.com. Right now, we're busy planning our coverage of the National Fantasy Fan Club (NFFC) National Convention, San Diego Comic Con, "The LARGEST comics and pop culture event in North America, PERIOD." And then there's the re-opening of Space Mountain and Disneyland's actual 50th anniversary…and all of that's just in one week in July! Also, look for more of our extremely popular new feature, "In Their Own Words," a series of QuickTime video interviews and special events. For August, we are looking into the possibility of sending a correspondent to Delaware, should Roy Disney and Stanley Gold's lawsuit against the Walt Disney Company and certain members of its board of directors proceed all the way to trial. We Need You!Of course, bringing you the level of coverage you deserve for these events is costly. And in spite of the positive upward trend in our volume of traffic, we aren't, as of yet, large enough to attract paying advertisers. Quite frankly, the affiliate advertising we run does the advertisers far more good than it does us. Reports from our affiliate ad management company indicate that our advertisers are benefiting from tens of thousands of "click-throughs" per month to their websites. With the exception of the Google ads, however, we only get paid when one of those click-throughs generates a unique sale and, for whatever reason, that's just not happening. This is where the $5 comes in. If each one of you reading o-meon.com on a regular basis hit the Donate button and made a single donation of just $5, we wouldn't need to come back and ask for your help until this time next year. In fact, we may not need to come back and ask you again. Hopefully, we'll be generating revenue from real ad sales by then. One minute. One click. $5. We're not going to bore you with a lot of comparisons to what a great value we think o-meon.com is to, say, what you spend on coffee or soft drinks every day, week, or month. Let's just say we think we're worth at least a couple of grande lattes a year. Judging by our site stats and your emails, many of you work inside the entertainment industry and regularly visit o-meon.com to keep up with what's going on "backstage." Regardless of your industry or background, if you've been informed or entertained by any of the stories you've read here on o-meon.com, take a minute, click the Donate button, and make a contribution of $5, or whatever amount you feel comfortable with, to our continuing effort to bring you the kind of behind-the-scenes stories and news you're already enjoying. It has been our pleasure to serve you these past few months. On behalf of our small group of dedicated volunteers here at o-meon.com, I want to say thank you once again for visiting and supporting our site. We're all looking forward to bringing you even more great stories from the world capital of entertainment and popular culture. Sincerely, C. W. "Chuck" Oberleitner letters from the editor |
